The first thing to do, of course, is to get a good pumpkin!
First you have to clean it thoroughly: after washing with water, wipe with a cloth dampened with water and a bit 'of alcohol.
Then place it on a table with a pen and draw a circle (Or a zig zag) to about 10 cm away from the top.
Then place it in a horizontal, lying down, and with a knife cut the top along the line you drew, holding it firmly.
Once you open your pumpkin, place the cut side and, with the same cloth, wipe off the black line.
Now you need to empty the pumpkin of its pulp and seeds: you can do it using a spoon.
Once sure that the pumpkin is completely empty, excavated the walls until they become thin (it will be easier to carve), but be careful not to overdo it and not make them too fragile and may break!
On a blank sheet of paper, draw the face of "Jack O 'Lantern" that you want to achieve, giving free rein to your imagination!
If you want to stay classic, you can draw two small triangles for eyes, a bigger nose and a crescent with the points facing upwards, which will be the mouth. In any case, whatever the design you use, remember to make sure that the holes are not too close together, otherwise your pumpkin is likely to break. In addition, if the holes are well spaced, the effect of lighted pumpkin will be much more impressive and spectacular.
Place the sheet on the widest part of the pumpkin, keeping it taut, secure it with electrical tape adhesive. With a toothpick or a pin prick the lines of your drawing to recreate it on the pumpkin.
Using a knife, cut the pumpkin along the lines of holes done before: start off the nose, then go to the mouth and eyes. When you are finished cutting, you can file the edges of the holes with steel wool (the one used to clean the pots), so as to make them more accurate and visible.
Once prepared the pumpkin, it's time to bring it to life!
